The American Bookbinders Museum is always in need of content volunteers to develop articles and written content for our online and social media presence, including our blog, website, newsletters and social media outlets. Content volunteers are responsible for working with staff to identify themes, research themes and develop articles including relevant media. This is a virtual role and can be successfully done from any location. Volunteers local to the San Francisco Bay Area can take part in ongoing volunteer activities and workshops at the museum.

Objective

To advance the educational mission of the American Bookbinders Museum by developing engaging and informative articles on a wide variety of bookbinding topics in order to cultivate a lively readership engaged in the many facets of bookbinding and museum development.

Job Description

Content volunteers work as part of a virtual team which includes staff members and other volunteers. Volunteers collaborate as needed via email and/or phone, while setting their own schedule based on the due date of their content piece. For volunteers local to the area, this is a great opportunity to explore our unique archive while researching bookbinding/print specific resources.

Activities and Responsibilities

Volunteers will work closely with Museum staff to identify topics and themes. Specific articles are assigned to volunteers by staff based on interest and schedule. Volunteers with a strong interest in particular subjects related to bookbinding, book arts and the Museum’s collections will be encouraged.
